Increased Cost for Piney Wood Chapel Relocation

Age, termites, and water have caused the cost to move a historic chapel at McClellan to increase by about $25,000. According to McClellan Development Authority Executive Assistant Sandy Roberts the increased cost to move Piney Wood Chapel is an estimated $25,000. She says that seal rot and termites have caused damage underneath the building. The MDA decided to spend the extra money at a Wednesday meeting. Crews moved the historic chapel from Berman Road to a spot beside the McClellan Cemetery on July 1st. In April, the MDA board voted to move the chapel. The MDA will transfer ownership of the chapel to the Calhoun County Commission once it is placed on its foundation.
