Skylar Copeland Charged With 2nd Degree Rape

A 22-year-old Etowah County man meets a 14-year-old on a social media website and is now charged in connection to sexual abuse of a 14-year-old victim. According to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin, Skylar Copeland of Hokes Bluff was arrested today and is charged with one count of 2nd Degree rape and one count of second degree sodomy, both are felonies. Copeland allegedly had sex with the teenage victim and admitted to investigators that the incident took place at a Hokes Bluff residence in May 2015. The incident was reported by a family member of the victim. Copeland is currently being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center on $20,000 cash bond.
