Gadsden native and former Alabama football player Joe King passed away on Monday at age 48. King was a star offensive lineman at Litchfield High School then played for the Tide from 1985-88. He battled substance abuse and spent a few years in prison following a bank robbery. After a wreck that left him paralyzed in June of 2014, he decided to use his life as a message for other who were struggling with addictions. His very honest and touching messages were used in counseling sessions and drug rehabilitation programs.
King's funeral arrangements have been set. Services will be held on Thursday (August 6th) at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden at 11:00am.
