Calhoun County Schools Employee of the Month

Calhoun County Schools and America’s First Federal Credit Union recognize an employee who has worked within the Calhoun County school system for many years and has helped to build a successful AgriScience program at Pleasant Valley High School. Chris Ramsey is the AgriScience teacher and F-F-A Sponsor who co-workers say has a great attitude and loves to teach kids. Assistant Principal Cyrus Frost says he is always willing to do whatever needs to be done to teach his students important skills, and that attitude makes Pleasant Valley a better school. Frost says Ramsey’s expertise helps to take students to the state and national level. Principal Mark Proper says he has worked with Ramsey for 6 years and is inspired by his compassion towards the students. Calhoun County Schools Deputy Superintendent Ed Roe has worked with Ramsey for 8 years. He says Ramsey was specifically brought on to start the Ag program, and that with his leadership it has blossomed into one of the largest. Ramsey doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. He says he loves working with young kids. He especially enjoys teaching them about basic gardening, building bookshelves, and even the basics of welding. But he says the most rewarding thing about his position is his ability to watch the students grow and develop new and lifelong skills. He says he knows that there are plenty of good teachers out there doing the same thing. He adds that he is humbled by the recognition. Ramsey has worked within the Calhoun County Schools System for 9 years.
