Alabama Hospital Association Announces New Leader

Today, the Alabama Hospital Association announced that Dr. Donald E. Williamson, will become president of the Association later this year around November. Dr. Williamson will follow the current president, Mike Horsley, who had previously announced his retirement.  Officials say “Dr. Williamson has had a long and distinguished career in health care and is very aware of the future challenges and opportunities for hospitals and the patients we serve.  He has a long history of convening diverse groups to accomplish great things for our state.”  Dr. Williamson has served as state health officer for the Alabama Department of Public Health since 1992 and is also currently serving as chair of the Alabama Medicaid Transition Task Force.
