Run, Hide, Fight: Active Shooter Training
Etowah County Sheriff’s Deputies are teaching Run, Hide, Fight. It’s an active shooter preparedness course offered to local businesses, churches and the general public. The basic instructions for the course remains the same, no matter where an incident may occur: Run if you can to escape the danger; hide from the shooter if you can't get away; and fight with whatever improvised weapons are available if there is no other option. This is the second year for the training. The sheriff’s office hopes to continue the classes on the second Tuesday of every month. Officials say this is common-sense training in what people can do to be safer when confronted with an active shooter situation.
