Saturday, August 15, 2015

Glencoe High School ranks as one of the top schools by U.S. News and World Report. The school was awarded the National Bronze Award because the school’s students are performing better than statistically expected for students in their state and their disadvantaged students were also outperforming disadvantaged students in the state. Charlton Giles has been Glencoe High School principal for seven years. And he says the outstanding staff and the support of the community is a big part of every success. He says the city has exceptional resources and the Board of Education always lends a supportive hand. He says that the mayor and city council are also actively involved. Glencoe has a total enrollment of 347 students and is one of seven Etowah County high schools. U.S. News and World Report reviewed more than 29,000 US public schools. 108 Alabama schools made their rankings.
