Tuesday, August 18, 2015

In our top story the 16th Judicial Circuit which includes Etowah County swears in its new District Attorney. Governor Robert Bentley appointed Southside native Jody Willoughby last week as DA. Willoughby graduated from Southside High School in 1999. He attended law school at Faulkner University - Jones School of Law in Montgomery and has been in private law practice in Gadsden. Willoughby says he is truly humbled and eager to work on the several critical capital cases to be tried. Willoughby will fulfill the un-expired term of Jimmie Harp, who served nearly two terms as D.A. for the people of Etowah County.  Harp passed away on July 22, due to cancer. Willoughby will have to run for election to a full term in 2016.
