Koch Foods receives funding from Governor Robert Bentley that will help supply its required infrastructure with a needed $30 million upgrade of its poultry processing plant in Collinsville. Governor Bentley awarded a $400,000 grant that will enable DeKalb County’s largest industrial employer to expand and continue its investment in the community. The plant employs 836 people and contracts with local poultry producers. Koch also plans to build 150 chicken houses in the region. The Community Development Block Grant will be used to provide sewer services for the plant. The town of Collinsville is providing local funding of more than $96,000 for the project. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available to the state by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
