Stake & Steak Fundraiser
The Boys and Girls Club of East Central Alabama held their annual Stake and Steak Fundraiser last night. Former University of Alabama gymnastics coach Sarah Patterson was the key note speaker. Patterson led her team to 32 national championship appearances, the second longest streak in the history of collegiate gymnastics. Event organizers say she is a great role model for the girls in the club and the entire community. Patterson holds the title of the most career national championships by a Crimson Tide head coach, shared only with coach Paul Bryant. Patterson says the theme of her speech for the night’s event is “The Champion In You.” The dinner helps raise critical funding needed to support the 8 clubs in East Central Alabama who are currently serving more than 690 registered members each year. The Stake and Steak Dinner helps to bridge the financial gap between the $650 annual cost needed to provide each club member programs and services.
