Talladega Man Convicted of Rape and Attempted Rape
Talladega man is convicted in Etowah County of Rape and Attempted Rape Charges.
53-year-old Anthony Rainey was convicted stemming from incidents that occurred in October and December of 2013. According to the district attorney's office, the cases involved incidents where Rainey offered to give a ride to two teenaged girls, then drove them to a secluded location where they were assaulted. District Attorney Jody Willoughby and Deputy District Attorney Carol Griffith prosecuted the case. Willoughby credited the guilty verdict to the courage of the victims in the case, and the outstanding work of the detectives. Judge Bill Rhea has scheduled a sentencing hearing for October 22 at 9:00 a.m.
