Katrina: 10 Year Anniversary
Saturday, August 29 marks ten years since Hurricane Katrina made landfall as a Category 3 storm with 127 mph winds between Grand Isle, Louisiana, and the mouth of the Mississippi River. There was severe flooding damage to Gulfport, Mississippi, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mobile. According to FEMA, Katrina is, the single most catastrophic natural disaster in U.S. history. With total damage estimated at $108 billion FEMA also calls Katrina the costliest hurricane in U.S. history.
