Area Gas Prices Falling
Gas prices at most area filling stations have dropped below $2 and the trend of cheaper fuel is expected to continue through December here and throughout the US. According to reports, stations currently range from $1.96 per gallon to $2.00. Last year, national average gas prices hit a low of $2.03. According to American Petroleum Institute, Alabama is now the second-cheapest state in terms of gas prices with an average price of $2.16, second to South Carolina with an average price of $2.10. Experts say the Alabama average will drop less overall than the national average, because the state average is so low right now so there’s not much room to drop.
