Renew Our Rivers

Alabama Power employees and community volunteers partner to protect waterways in their communities through Renew Our Rivers. More than 100 volunteers showed up at Ohatchee’s H. Neely Henry area to cleanup and remove trash across their watershed. Cleanup Chair Lisa Morales says this is their 16th year in Ohatchee and last year they cleaned up 1.5 tons of debris. Renew Our Rivers began with one Alabama Power employee who had a vision to improve the health and beauty of the Coosa River near Plant Gadsden where he worked. That employee helped to initiate the first community cleanups in 2000. Today, there are more than 30 cleanups to remove trash across the state’s watersheds.
