Oxford's Roc Thomas Named Auburn's Starting RB
Former Oxford High School standout and Pigskin Roundup All-Star Roc Thomas is will be the starting running back in the Auburn's season opener against Louisville on Saturday. Tiger head coach Gus Malzahn named the sophomore the starter ahead of Jovon Robinson and Peyton Barber. Thomas will look to become the third straight Auburn back to rush for more than 1,000 yards (Tre Mason & Cameron Artis Payne were the other two). Thomas won the starting job after a fall competition that also involved Barber, Robinson and freshman Kerryon Johnson.
"He's definitely gotten bigger. He's kept his speed. He’s more comfortable now, he knows what’s going on," Malzahn said. "We've seen him grow, not just this spring, but more importantly in the fall."
