Teen Charged with First-Degree Assault
The teenager accused of leading police on a chase from Cherokee County into Etowah County-and causing a crash- has been charged in the case. According to Hokes Bluff Police Chief Mitchell Hill, 17-year-old Adam Wright has been charged as an adult following the police chase that ended in a crash in Hokes Bluff that injured three people. Wright has been charged with three counts of first-degree assault and one count of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. Wright was taken into custody after the crash Sunday afternoon on County Road 71, and taken to Coosa Valley Detention Center in Anniston. Hill said after warrants were obtained against Wright, deputies went to the center and arrested him, bringing him back to Etowah County's jail.
