Heflin Drug Bust


A Heflin police officer pulls over a driver for a traffic violation, and during the stop he detects an odor of marijuana. The Sunday evening traffic stop in east Alabama turned into a substantial drug bust. According to Heflin Police Chief AJ Benefield, the driver who was pulled over admitted to having smoked marijuana, and then he also admitted to having a half-ounce of “ice” in the trunk, along with a set of scales. Officers also found a gun during their search of the vehicle. The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was taken into custody and charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and having a concealed firearm. The driver also had an outstanding warrant on a cocaine charge in Mississippi.
