Fast Food Chain Switching to Cage-Free Eggs
Fast-food giant McDonald’s says it will stop using eggs from hens housed in cages for its US and Canada locations. The company says it will transition to cage-free eggs for its US and Canadian restaurants over the next decade. Such eggs are laid in “Aviary Systems” where chickens move freely inside barns. McDonald’s says its decision means a quality, safe and consistent egg supply for customers. McDonald’s USA purchases more than two billion eggs a year. And it may be buying more as it launches an all-day breakfast menu next month.
