Heflin Receives Grant

One local city will be able to purchase new body cameras and Tasers for police officers through a grant given by Governor Robert Bentley. Governor Bentley has awarded an $18,366 grant to help Heflin purchase needed law enforcement equipment. City officials say the cameras better protect residents and officers by recording police interaction with the public and the Tasers give officers an additional non-lethal means to protect themselves and the public. Governor Bentley notified Heflin Mayor Rudy Rooks that the grant had been approved.
