Alabama now has a general fund budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Today, Governor Robert Bentley signed the state's new $1.7 billion dollar spending plan. For months, state lawmakers have argued over a $200 million dollar budget shortfall. Finally, they reached an agreement during the second session- which ended last night. Among other changes, the new budget includes a 25 cent tax for each pack of cigarettes and a 15 cent tax for each prescription that's filled.
