One local county will purchase and install video camera systems in sheriff’s patrol vehicles with help from a grant from Governor Robert Bentley. Governor Bentley has awarded two grants of more than $5,000 to help the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office purchase new video equipment. Footage from the cameras can be used as evidence in court and as a training tool to ensure that deputies follow proper procedures at the scene of an incident. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs administered the grants from funds made available by the US Justice Department. Governor Bentley informed the chairman of the County Commission, Paul Manning that he had approved the grants.
