Salute to Industry Month


One local chamber of commerce recognizes local industries and their contributions to their county with a luncheon. During each September, the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce salutes area industries with Salute to Industry Month, including a luncheon, golf outing, and industrial tour. Today, the luncheon took place at the Oxford Civic Center. The guest speaker was Dr. John Beehler, Jacksonville State University’s 12th President. Also, at the Salute to Industry Luncheon, two local government leaders were recognized. Congressman Mike Rogers was honored for his commitment to working to pass legislation and enacting policies that bolster our country’s economy and keep our nation’s spirit of enterprise alive. Rogers was presented the U-S Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise Award. Business Council of Alabama President and C-E-O William Canary presented Alabama Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh with the Business Champion Award for improving Alabama’s educational system and economy. The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors’ Center Mission is to promote and sustain the economic growth of the Calhoun County Region, resulting in a community that is a dynamic place to work, visit and live.
