The Pope Visits US Capitol

Pope Francis is in the United State for a busy six day three city visit. He got an official welcome this morning at the White House. On his first full day in the US, he visited the White House for the first time, where he was the guest of honor at a welcoming ceremony. More than 15,000 people crammed on to the South Lawn to hear the Pope address the American people. He met with President Obama one-on-one with just translators in the room. And he rode through Washington in the Popemobile, with thousands lining the streets. He even dined with homeless people in Washington. His criticism of capitalism, income inequality, and his views on climate change may not be well-received in the nation’s capital among some. Despite that, the Pope says he doesn’t lean to the left or the right.
