National Prescription Drug Take-Back

The 10th National Prescription Drug Take-Back will take place at multiple area locations on September 26th from 10 am to 2 pm. As with the previous nine Take-Back events, sites will be set up throughout communities nationwide so local residents can return their unwanted, unneeded, or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal. The Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention has partnered with the Anniston Police Department and will be at the Anniston Walgreen’s take back site on Quintard. The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. There are multiple sites in Calhoun County, Etowah County, and Talladega County. In the previous nine Take-Back events nationwide from 2010 to 2014, more than 4-million pounds of drugs were collected.
