Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While most people are aware of the disease, many forget to take the steps to detect and prevent it. First, watch your weight.  Also, get some exercise, and don’t smoke. If you drink alcohol, limit yourself to no more than 1 drink a day.  f you are able to breastfeed when you have children, this may offer some protection against the disease. And, avoid hormone therapy after menopause, if possible. Also, it’s important to get screened for breast cancer.  Early detection may increase the chances of successful treatment.
