3 State Parks Will Remain Open
Gulf State, Oak Mountain and Guntersville, will not be closed if legislators decide to shutdown some of the state parks due to budget cuts. In an interview in Huntsville, Governor Robert Bentley confirmed the three state parks would remain open. Gulf State Park is in Gulf Shores, Oak Mountain State Park is in Pelham and Lake Guntersville State Park is in Guntersville. The department manages 22 parks across the state according to its website, 15 of which have been previously floated as possible sites for closure. Bentley said Monday that there is a list of 33 possible driver's license offices that could close as well as some National Guard Armories. Bentley's office says the full plan will come out later this week and will be rolled out before the October 1 start of the 2016 fiscal year.
