A nationally recognized East Alabama auction company is celebrating 100 years of business. The Gadsden-based J.P. King Auction Company was started in 1915 in Tullahoma, Tennessee as a general auction business. In 1932, JP King moved his company headquarters to Gadsden and the company has been based there ever since. Throughout the decades, JP King has remained a family-owned business that is currently in the hands of the 4thgeneration of the King family. Current President and CEO Craig King says that the company has always operated with one main guiding principle. The company celebrated its centennial anniversary today with a reception in Gadsden. Mayor Sherman Guyton and Representative Craig Ford were both on hand with special proclamations. Today, the JP King Company handles mostly luxury properties all over the country. Price on recent auctions range from a million dollars to 28 million dollars. The company has even worked with some celebrity names over the years...including Donald Trump, Barbara Mandrell, former Atlanta Brave Mike Hampton and former NBA great Karl Malone...just to name a few.
