Potentially Dangerous Dogs Ordinance

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

One local city adopts a new ordinance that requires potentially dangerous dogs to be secured by a leash at all times when outdoors. The dog breeds specified by the two-week-old ordinance are any type of pit bull, as well as Rottweiler or any wolf hybrid. The ordinance also states that any mixed breed of a dog that contains any of their elements is a potentially dangerous dog. According to the ordinance those dogs should also be enclosed by means of a fence or other secure enclosure. It adds that underground fences do not meet the requirement. The ordinance designates that violators could be fined anywhere from $300 to $500 and potentially serve jail time.
