The Alabama National Guard warns people near McClellan and Pelham range of a special training from Thursday through Saturday. The National Guard will be firing artillery to train soldiers and it will involve loud noises from the artillery. According the National Guard, residents as far as 30 miles away could hear the artillery fire, depending on atmospheric conditions such as wind speed and direction, cloud cover, temperature and relative humidity. The Guard says favorable weather conditions are expected to keep the noise to a minimum, but those conditions are subject to change. According the Alabama National Guard, residents will likely hear the artillery fire except between10 p.m. and 7 a.m. on those days. Officials say people in the area should report concerns about the artillery noise to Range Control at the Fort McClellan Army National Guard Training Center, at 256-847-3037.
