Alabama's unemployment rate has dropped to six percent. The governor's office said today the seasonally adjusted jobless rate for September was 6-percent, down from the August rate of 6.2-percent. The number is a slight improvement from the same time last year, when Alabama's unemployment rate was 6.3-percent. However, Alabama is still well above the U.S. unemployment rate of 5.1-percent. Unemployment is lowest in Shelby County, which had a September jobless rate of 4.1-percent. Wilcox County has the highest unemployment rate of 15-percent.
