Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit seizes more than 500 grams of methamphetamine. In a press conference today, authorities announced the arrest of 5 people as a result of the investigation by the Etowah County Drug Task Force and the FBI called “Operation Beamer. The investigation was part of the North Alabama Safe Streets Task Force. Authorities are still searching for two suspects, Kenneth Humphries and Matthew Beam. The areas of Gadsden that investigators targeted in this distribution of methamphetamine or streetname - ICE - were Alabama City and Mill Village. The investigation began in June and was expanded to July. The cities of Southside, Attalla, and Rainbow City were also included. According to investigators, the group arrested was primarily responsible for the distribution of thousands of dollars’ worth of drugs.
