Woman charged with Chemical Endangerment of a Child

An Etowah County woman is in jail on charges that she took drugs while pregnant. 27-year-old Tayla Howard  of Rainbow City is charged with chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed. Investigators say Howard, admitted to taking Oxycodone and other drugs while pregnant admitted and that she tested positive for methamphetamine.  She is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $10,000 bond. Upon release, Howard will be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections and must successfully complete a treatment program.
