Woman Arrested for Chemical Endangerment of a Child
An Attalla woman is in jail on charges that she took drugs while pregnant. According to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin, 28-year-old Tosha Kirby of Attalla has been arrested for chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, which is a felony. Investigtors say, Kirby, knowing she was pregnant, admitted to using methamphetamine. She tested positive for methamphetamine, barbiturates and opiates. Her newborn baby also tested positive for methamphetamine and opiates. Kirby is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $10,000 bond and she must successfully complete a treatment program.
