Local Radio Legend Passes Away

A legend in radio in our region passed away over the weekend. Thunder 92.7’s Rufus T Raspberry died on Saturday. He was the morning show co-host since 1993. Raspberry was an instrumental voice for their NASCAR broadcasts and also worked in an engineering capacity for the station. Grady Sapp, who had been his co-host for the last few years, says he was a gifted, kind, and talented man. He had a legion of followers. There were hundreds of callers on the station’s tribute program this morning.
