Salvation Army Preps for Its Biggest Fundraiser

A local agency prepares to begin its annual campaign to help fulfill its commitment to our area’s poorest individuals on Christmas Day. The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign tradition is set to begin on November 13th. Anniston Salvation Army Corps Officer Major Eric Roberts says they’ve received assistance applications from more than 500 people. He says the agency is in need of volunteers – especially Bell Ringers. Roberts says public contributions to Salvation Army kettles enable the organization to continue its year-round efforts at helping those who would otherwise be forgotten. He adds that the agency is also getting ready for its annual Angel Tree effort at the Quintard Mall. Roberts continues to say that becoming a Salvation Army volunteer is not a complicated process. All you need to do is call Salvation Army at 256-236-5643 and they will put you on their calendar. He says they work full days from 10:00AM until 8:00PM.
