Car Sales Are Up
Americans are buying more cars than ever. US auto sales in October were up 14-percent from the same time last year. And General Motors says it expects the industry to surpass a sales record this year. More than 17-million cars and trucks were sold in the U-S back in 2000. Experts credit the auto sale spike to low unemployment, cheap gas prices, low interest rates and more available credit. One automaker not joining in the good news is Volkswagen, which is struggling with a widening emissions scandal. Volkswagen sales were flat last month compared to a year ago.
