New Cross Atop Hospital

Friday, November 6, 2015

If you have driven through Gadsden recently – especially at night – you have no doubt noticed a new addition to the top of Riverview Regional Medical Center. That new addition is a new, lit cross that can be seen all across the city of Gadsden. The cross has been a fixture of the Gadsden skyline since the original part of the hospital was built in 1931. This is only the 3rd time that the cross has been replaced in its 84 year history – and the latest version is larger and more visible. The new cross is 20-feet tall and illuminated with LED lights. Riverview held a special dedication ceremony for the new cross today and also rededicated the hospital's newly renovated chapel. The chapel is open 24 hours a day – 7 days a week. Patients, families and employees are all welcome to use the chapel.
