Sodas and Your Health
New research from the British Medical Journal reveals yet another reason to cut down on soda… Researchers are saying it might contribute to heart failure. The journal reports that men who drank just two sweetened drinks per day had a 23-percent higher risk of going into heart failure. They came to that conclusion by monitoring the food habits of 42,000 Swedish men between the ages of 45 and 79. The findings may not apply to younger age groups or to women. In another study in the Journal Circulation, sugary drinks were found to be linked to an estimated 184,000 adult deaths each year worldwide. Health experts recommend limiting your soda intake by switching to water, seltzer, or unsweetened tea.
