Volkswagen’s move to try to appease some of its unhappy customers may not be as effective. Monday, the carmaker said it would give 500-dollar gift cards to owners of diesel cars involved in the emissions cheating scandal as well as a 500-dollar credit that can be used at VW dealerships. Some owners say the offer is not enough. They want Volkswagen to buy back their cars. Many owners feel caught in limbo, worried they won’t be able to resell their cars given the scandal. VW officials aren’t saying much about any plans to buy-back cars. Instead, they say they’re focused on a fix for the car’s emissions system.
