Gadsden City Schools Receive Grant


Congratulations are in order for Gadsden City Schools. The school system received a $75,000 grant from the state Department of Education for the Striving Toward Educational Proficiency program. The STEP Academy received funding at the highest level awarded and will be able to use the money for salaries, professional development and coaching for credit recovery. Officials add it will help the program pay stipends for teachers to come in for periodic Saturday “catch-up” classes. 49 students are enrolled in STEP Academy.
