Night at the Nativity

Local people from Rainbow City are going to host a “Night at the Nativity” two days before Christmas. The event is not sponsored by Rainbow City’s local government as they cannot endorse religion because of a history with the Wisconsin-based atheist group known as the Freedom for Religion Foundation who targeted the town last year for a faith-based display. Local State Representative Mack Butler announced the community leaders’ plan and says that on the 23rd at 6 p.m., community members will have a live nativity scene and will worship at Rainbow City Hall. Butler says he has met in person and by phone with several local pastors who are helping with this event. Many of the local churches are moving their service to city hall that night. The people will sing Christmas carols and have cookies and hot chocolate as they celebrate.
