The FCS playoffs are down to the final eight teams and JSU is still in the mix for a national championship. The top-ranked Gamecocks won a thriller on Saturday over Chattanooga to advance to the quarterfinals against Charleston Southern.
A big reason for their win is huge plays in key moments. The Gamecocks overcame a fourth quarter deficit to tie the game with four minutes to play and eventually send it to overtime where they won with a great defensive play that led to the offensive walk-off touchdown. Head coach John Grass and quarterback Eli Jenkins agree that those plays show the team's maturity.
JSU will face a slightly different challenge in the quarterfinals with a Friday night game. Preparation will be different but the players are embracing the change in routine. JSU and Charleston Southern will square off at 7:00pm on ESPN2.
