Attalla Receives Grants for Road & Water System

Governor Robert Bentley announces Appalachian Regional Commission grants worth more than $214,000 to assist Attalla in improving its water system and repairing roads. The city will use a grant for more than $167,000 to replace aging, corroded and leaking water lines. It will replace the old cast-iron water lines with high-density plastic pipes along Etowah and Lee streets and Utility Avenue. A grant worth more than $47,000 will enable Attalla to repair and repave a 1,800-foot section of Jones Saw Mill Road. The city will repair severely damaged sections of the road, which is the main road providing access to a major manufacturer employing more than 400 people.
