Starting January 1 the cost of a marriage license in Alabama is going up by $30. The higher fees are part of a bill signed by Governor Robert Bentley in June. The $30 marriage license increase is earmarked for the Domestic Violence Trust Fund. The price hike will be implemented statewide, though the total cost of a marriage license still varies by county. In Talladega County, licenses will increase from $45 to $75. Calhoun County’s new fee will be $104, and Etowah County’s will be $70. Couples can purchase marriage licenses up to 30 days before their wedding date.
