Receives 50th Anniversary Super Bowl Golden Football

The trophy case at Anniston High School becomes the home for a Wilson-produced golden football thanks to the National Football League. The NFL presented a 50TH Anniversary of the Super Bowl commemorative gold football to the school for every player and head coach who has ever appeared in a Super Bowl. One time Anniston High School quarterback and defensive back Eric Davis who went on to play football for the Super Bowl Twenty-Four winning 1994 San Francisco 49ers presented the award. At Anniston High School, Davis played quarterback and defensive back for Johnny Ingram, was a two-year starter in basketball and also excelled at track. In 1985, following his senior season, Davis was a first-team All-County choice as a defensive back. Defensive back was also his position at Jacksonville State University where Davis was a four-year letterman. As a senior, Davis was a first-team All-Gulf South Conference performer as Jacksonville State led the conference in passing defense. Davis is a member of the Jacksonville State Athletic Hall of Fame. In May 2013, he was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
