Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast
Civic leaders, activists and others celebrate and pay tribute to Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the 30th federal holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader. The City of Anniston Good Choices Program hosted the Fourteenth Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast and Youth Participation Day. The event was filled with community leaders and members from across Calhoun County to celebrate King’s legacy. Tuskegee Mayor Johnny Ford was the guest speaker. He shared on his hopes for the next generation. Students from all over Anniston and Calhoun County participated in the event. Student volunteer servers shared on why they volunteered. The say they wanted to help the community by serving. The breakfast took place at the Anniston City Meeting Center with a crowd of more than 700 people. The event’s theme was “Celebration With a Purpose,” It was sponsored by the Calhoun County Commission, the Anniston Housing Authority, the Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention, and Pandoras Art and Social Club.
