K-9 Needed at Cleburne County Schools

The school resource officer for Cleburne County schools, Ross McGlaughn asks board members to consider buying a dog. McGlaughn says the dog would represent a proactive approach and remind students to stay away from drugs. McGlaughn says currently there is only one K-9 in the entire county and it's not always available when the principals really want it. He’s asked the board to consider splitting the $5,500 cost of a drug K-9 with the police, if money is a factor. Board members however, are looking into additional options that could bring in federal dollars to pay for STUDENTS to be tested for drugs. Board Chairwoman Hope Lee says the legality of that type of process would need further investigation.
