One Man Charged with Selling Drugs


A Gadsden man is in jail on charges that he was selling drugs. According to the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, 36-year-old Roderick Barnes has been charged with trafficking in crack cocaine and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Agents went to a home on Randall Street in Gadsden in reference to a complaint of drug activity. They discovered Barnes at the front door and found him carrying a pistol on his right hip. Agents knew Barnes was a convicted felon and placed him in custody. The investigation resulted in the seizure of nearly 50 grams of crack cocaine, a small amount of methamphetamine, two 9-millimeter pistols, a point-38 caliber pistol, and more than $3300 in cash. Barnes is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $50-thousand cash bond.
