Marriage License Fee Goes Up

Tuesday, January 5, 2016

The cost of a marriage license in Alabama has gone up. The higher fees are part of a bill signed by Governor Robert Bentley in 2015. The price hike has been implemented statewide, though the total cost of a marriage license still varies by county. Calhoun County’s new fee is $104, and Etowah County’s is $70. In Talladega County, licenses have increased from $45 to $75. Couples can purchase marriage licenses up to 30 days before their wedding date. The $30 marriage license increase is earmarked for the Domestic Violence Trust Fund.
