Many drivers are now using the Anniston Eastern Bypass. And according to the Alabama Department of Transportation there are a few issues that they are attempting to address. Officials say drivers are not following traffic signs due to habitual patterns or due to their GPS. But, ALDOT won’t be making any foreseeable changes. They add that there are many other connections that need to be made back to the existing roadways and that due to the time of the year it will probably be Spring before they are complete. There are now no additional capacity projects scheduled at this time. ALDOT says primary future work will be routine maintenance including; pavement management, resurfacing and bridge management and replacements. The cost of construction is $105-million.
